2017 Super 4’s

2017 SUPER 4’S

Any four-cylinder car, van or truck is eligible.  Domestic or foreign.  Front wheel or rear wheel drive.  No four-wheel or all-wheel drives allowed.  No mini stock, turbo, pro mods allowed.

 CAR AND BODY:

  1. Any front or rear wheel drive car or truck. No all-wheel drive, four wheel drive or all wheel steer.  Stock production car or truck only.
  2. Roll cage: All cars/trucks are required to have a roll cage.  All cages must be constructed of black iron pipe or seamless steel round tubing with a minimum outside diameter of 1.5” and a minimum wall thickness of .083.  No conduit, exhaust, galvanized or aluminum pipe allowed.  A minimum of a four point roll cage is required. (That is four vertical bars welded to the frame inside the driver’s compartment).  A rear hoop behind the driver’s head welded to the two rear vertical bars is required.  A front hoop following the contour of the driver’s side windshield post and top of the windshield welded to the front two vertical bars is also required.  Four top bars are required.  A minimum of four (4) horizontal bars are required IN the driver’s side door and three (3) horizontal bars are required IN the passenger side door.  All connections to be fully welded with gussets installed.  Roll bar installation and workmanship must be approved.  It is recommended that the roll cage be mounted to a box tubing frame run inside driver’s compartment.  Box tubing must be securely welded to floor pan and roll cage. 
  3. 6 point cages to the rear ONLY.
  4. Bar around radiator for protection okay not tied to main roll cage.
  5. No PUSH bars past firewall or to extend beyond front facia – bracing and structural okay but must be approved by tech.
  6. 6 inch metal support to extend out behind nosepiece or to hold grill in place allowed.
  7. Racing seat, properly mounted is required. Five point safety harness with proper mounting is required.
  8. Each car must be fitted with an approved window screen protecting the driver’s door window.
  9. Aftermarket nose pieces allowed.
  10. Driver compartment must be sealed off from the trunk area.
  11. Interior may NOT be decked in.
  12. Bumpers must be chained or wired to car to reduce loss during the race
  13. Must have stock rear and front suspensions as from factory – slotting okay.
  14. No racing springs (lowering) or shocks allowed. Spacers okay.
  15. The absence of a specific rule does not imply approval, consent or permission regarding that subject. Any questions or doubts regarding such matters should be directed to speedway officials for a clarification.
  16. Any further definitions or interpretations will be made by the OSP officials only.

 ENGINE:

  1. Must be a stock 4 cylinder engine, no turbo or rotary engine allowed.
  2. Fuel injection or stock manufactured carburetor only (Motorcraft, etc.)
  3. Engine must be in stock location and must have been available in make of entered car (ie. Honda Engine in a Honda car).
  4. Any air or oil filters (K&N, etc.).
  5. No Holley, Weber or other racing carburetor allowed – carburetor must be stock model for car.
  6. No cold air intakes for fuel injection – must be stock type breather system.
  7. Aftermarket radiators okay, radiator can be braced for support.
  8. No aftermarket or racing header. Factory production header allowed without tuning alterations.
  9. Computer may be chipped to adjust or remove factory rev limiter.

NOTE:  It is helpful to have a manual for your make and model car or truck if you are concerned about questions that may come up in post-race inspection.

 WHEELS & TIRES:

  1. Spoke type and aftermarket wheels allowed – 7 inch maximum.
  2. Tires must be DOT standard production. No high performance, drag radials, racing, recaps or soft compound tires.  NO Hoosier street tires.
  3. Tires can be mixed and matched for stagger.

 WEIGHT:

  1. All cars must weigh 2,200 pounds with driver after the race.

 MISCELLANEOUS:

  1. One 4” round mirror is allowed to be mounted on the interior driver’s side door.
  2. No two-way radios or electronic communications allowed.
  3. All Super 4’s drivers must use a “RaceCeiver”. This will allow the control tower officials to communicate with each driver.
