Text Box: A Little History… Oglethorpe Speedway Park celebrates it's 59th         Anniversary in 2010. The half mile speedway has     entertained race fans since March of 1951 when   championship motorcycle racing debuted in              Savannah.  The first stock car race took place at the historic half mile in May of 1951. Johnnie Parsons was the first winner.  Parsons was the defending Indy 500 winner that year.   The tradition of championship racing in a family     oriented facility lives on as Oglethorpe Speedway Park runs weekly racing events on Friday nights at 8:00pm.  Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks and 440s make up the weekly schedule.

OSP Fan Information

 

Coolers are allowed as long as they are 12” x 12” or small and no glass is allowed in speedway.

 

Family Section: OSP has a family friendly section located just before turn one.  In this section alcohol and smoking are not allowed.

 

Concessions & Beverage: OSP offers lots of great concession items and cold Coca-Cola beverages, we also have an outside grill with rib, pork steak and chicken plates.  For our adult fans the Finish Line Pub has ice-cold beer and Bacardi Breezers.

Last chance before the mid-season break to see the Southern Eagle Budweiser Late Models, Love’s Seafood Street Stocks, Wildcat Archery & Hunting Supply Pure Stocks, Savannah Go Mini’s Mini Stocks and the Pooler Pawn & Diamond Company 440’s.

 

Grandstand gates open at 6 pm ~ Hot Laps at 6:45 pm ~ Racing at 8 pm.

Grandstand Tickets just $12 for Adults, $10 for Military & Seniors (55 & older), Children 6-12 are $3 and Children 5 and younger are FREE.

 

Results from Friday, June 18, 2010:

You never know what will happen with Double Points racing as was the case this past Friday. The Florida Sprints may have been the highlighted Feature Event of the evening but the real excitement may have been in the Savannah Go Mini’s Mini Stocks when on the final lap coming out of turn 4  a battle for the lead between the 88 of Josh Carter and the 00 of David Johnikin got together and the third place car of Brian Zehr #1 tried to sneak through resulting in the three lead cars spinning which allowed the 4th, 5th, and 6th place cars to finish in the top three. Next up in the Wildcat Archery & Hunting Supply Pure Stocks there the was the three car chain of Dewayne Nease #89, Walter Sills #56 and Bo Cannon #92 that had the fans on their feet.  Jamie Hopkins after a season of bad luck was able to take home the victory in the Love’s Seafood Street Stocks. In the Pooler Pawn & Diamond Co. 440’s with a feature win and double points James Grainger took the points lead from Chris Graham and Billy Barrow in only his 2nd race of the season took home the third place trophy.
